Some people prefers to work alone but some jobs are just better when worked on together to achieve the common goal.
According to an article from The Happy Manager on why teamwork is important (https://the-happy-manager.com/articles/why-is-teamwork-important/):
“It doesn’t mean everybody doing the same thing or everybody being able to do each other’s jobs. It’s more a means to a synergistic way of working, where the sum is greater than the parts. Properly managed, teamwork maximizes strengths, bringing out the best in each team member, a key theme on this site. These specific, possibly unique individual strengths are then complimented by the strengths of others, or of the team as a unit.”
When one member of the team doesn’t value teamwork, the team output gets affected even if they try their best doing their assigned job, because teamwork is about support, communication, diversity, and trust. You can’t work in a team without these.
Support is important because when you’re in a team, you share the goal and if one fails, the whole team fails so you should be willing to support your co-members and your co-members should be willing to support you because a win for each member is a win for the team. Nothing will work without any form of communication; open, honest, yet respectful communication will help the team move forward faster. Diversity kicks off creativity and innovation amongst the team, it’s helpful to have different minds pitching in their ideas. And trust keeps away the distractions; trusting that each of the members are all thinking about the team’s welfare and trusting that each of the members are capable of their jobs brings the focus back to the common goal.
